Over 1600 rural candidates from around 256 villages participated in a rural job fair, organised by Tata Chemicals’ CSR arm Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) at Mithapur in Devbhumi Dwarka district in Gujarat on Wednesday. The candidates were offered jobs by 10 companies like Banco Product (India), Nanliu Manufacturing (India), Yazaki India, Lumax Industries, Voltas Becko, Banco Gaskets India and others making it a success.
Candidates from three key educational backgrounds, ITI pass-outs, graduates, HSC pass-outs participated in this recruitment drive and were selected through an interview process for floor-shop jobs. The registrations to participate was made very easy, where candidates enrolled via the website or an android application. TCSRD played a very important role in negotiating for facilities like free bus service, residence and subsidised canteen facility with the recruiters. All the candidates, as well as companies participating in the event, have been linked with a government portal for the future reference of up-gradation making the process seamless. The initiative covered four blocks and 250 villages of Devbhumi Dwarka district and six villages of Porbandar district.
“Our goal is to bring opportunities to meet the rising aspirations of today’s youth. We are grateful to the community, district authorities, and companies for their support towards this initiative. The successful participation of youth every year in the job fair is bringing us close to our vision of providing employment to 4000 youth of Devbhoomi Dwarka by 2025,” said N Kamath, Vice President Manufacturing & Factory Manager, Tata Chemicals.
TCSRD conducts numerous interventions with an aim to generate employment for rural youth to provide financial independence and support the overall economic growth of the region.
TCSRD also provides skill development and entrepreneurship training thereby providing employable skills to compete in the ambitious job market. This is being done through a skill development centre, which is also actively working towards providing employment to rural youth in Devbhumi Dwarka district. TCSRD works in partnership with educational institutes, technical organisations to bring in their expertise and learning to achieve a higher impact for their community development projects.
