We make in India – the new buzzword online

Inspired by the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, online fashion brand Bewakoof.com has launched ‘We Make in India’ campaign to promote local manufacturing. In its social media campaign, the brand is publicizing that 100 percent of its products are completely made in India and has also launched a clothing line with ‘Make in India’ inspired quotes and designs.

Founded by IIT Bombay alumni Prabhkiran Singh and Siddharth Munot in 2012, Bewakoof.com now ships nearly 30,000 products every month to different parts of the country as well as to international destinations.

‘We Make in India’ campaign launched by the brand is an attempt to emphasize the importance of local manufacturing by which the supply and manufacturing businesses in the country can be supported. Rather than look at cheaper and preferred destinations such as China, Bangladesh or Thailand to cut costs, the company manufactures and makes 100 percent of its products in India.

The Indian diaspora has been a key target for the make in India campaign as seen by the Prime Minister’s speeches in New York. On similar lines, with this campaign the brand is also trying to reach out to the large community of Indians spread out all across the world to buy products made in India.
