As part of its strategy to reach out to rural customers, Vi (Vodafone Idea), a leading telecom operator, has recently introduced nearly 1,100 new formats Vi Shops across tier-3 markets in 18 Indian states. Vi Shops are expanding their retail footprint in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
These Vi Shops were introduced in the last three months with the goal of providing a consistent Vi experience to rural customers as well as providing quick support and handholding. The new format Vi Shops’ modern design is consistent with the signature elements that distinguish existing Vi Stores in urban settings. These shops provide the full range of Vi prepaid products and services, allowing for a more personalised customer experience and greater engagement.
Highlighting the strategy to expand its rural retail network, Abhijit Kishore, Chief Operating Officer, Vodafone Idea, said, “Our experience and customer research show that, outside of metro areas, there is still a large segment of customers who prefer the comfort and familiarity of face-to-face services. To enable the large rural population to participate in the digital revolution, we have revamped our rural retail strategy by introducing the concept of Vi Shops in a number of small towns and tier-3 markets. The opening of nearly 1100 Vi Shops in such a short period of time is one of the country’s fastest retail expansions. This will allow us to get closer to our customers by providing them with convenience and ease of access to service via trained personnel in welcoming surroundings.”
Vi planned the new rural prepaid stores by constantly adapting and reinventing in order to provide a live and engaging experience in response to changing customer needs. The Vi stores’ design is intended to address customer aspirations while capturing Vi’s core brand attitude.
