Arya.ag, Friends of Women’s World Banking, India (FWWB India), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have joined hands to undertake enterprise promotion and value chain interventions in agriculture and related activities among 10,000 women farmers. By December 2023, the collaboration hopes to have a team of community resource people who can coach and assist business owners as well as promote both solo and group ventures. Building a team of sourcing managers is part of Project Excel’s strategy for implementing value chain interventions and creating credit and market linkages through collectivization. Arya.ag will capitalise on farmer collectives (FPOs) as part of this agreement to efficiently manage the post-harvest practices and expand the producer group’s agricultural value chain.
Farmer collectives and FPOs will be able to promote their products on Arya.ag’s online marketplace. The company’s integrated ecosystem of services, which include high-quality inputs, commercial assistance, farm consulting and management tools, inexpensive loans, and capacity building, will help farmers through economies of scale and synergies. They will aid farmers in the villages in establishing connections to the market and financing through collectivisation. Farmers who are part of FPOs would benefit from economies of scale, which would lower production costs and increase farmer incomes. The Arya.ag’s agritech platform addresses the problems of traceability and transparency and provides quality assurance for efficient commodity commerce.
The development of entrepreneurship among villagers would be the main aim of FWWB India. By creating demand-driven micro and nano businesses, it will help the economic empowerment of women and young people. With end-to-end solutions including training and technical support, financing and market connections, and skill upgrading support, this alliance aims to empower women and ensure a sustainable income at the individual and community levels.
This project’s overarching goal is to unlock the potential of rural and semi-urban communities and give them the tools they need to improve their lives in areas like agriculture, dairy, poultry, handicrafts, goat husbandry, and handloom. Additionally, the initiative will improve their market linkages and managerial skills.
Arya.ag and FWWB India will collaborate closely to strengthen the agri value chain and create an ecosystem for entrepreneurship. They will make it possible to have more in-depth conversations with knowledge partners, which will improve and raise the income of millions of women and small-scale farmers in Gujarat’s underserved areas of Dwarka.
