The developmental activities of the LDF-ruled Kannur district panchayat that serve the people cutting across political lines are exemplary and can be emulated by other district panchayats, Rural Development Minister K.C. Joseph has said.
Inaugurating the Development Centre of the district panchayat, he said the Development Centre was a means for the panchayat to earn additional resources for developmental activities.
The district panchayat’s activities could be further strengthened with the generation of resources from the space in the Development Centre building being rented out.

With the strengthening of the decentralisation process, projects and activities could be planned in a transparent way in response to the local needs of the people, he pointed out.
He further said that Kerala was going to be the first digital State in the country. Technology was now accessible to common man, he added.
District panchayat president K.A. Sarala presided. District Collector P. Bala Kiran, District Police Chief P.N. Unnirajan, district panchayat vice-president T. Krishnan were among those present at the function.
