India’s leading online marketplace – Snapdeal.com has announced a partnership with The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) to empower small and medium sized businesses through their marketplace model.

An apex organisation of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, NIESBUD has so far provided training to about three lakh individuals and businesses since inception. The governing council of the institution is chaired by MSME minister Kalraj Mishra.

Speaking about the partnership, Rohit Bansal, Co-founder and COO, Snapdeal, said, “We are thrilled to sign an MOU with NIESBUD. With this, we are now further promoting entrepreneurship and digitally enabling small and medium sized businesses in India. Partnering with NIESBUD provides us with a large platform to together create opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs and build successful businesses by selling online.”

Arun Kumar Jha, Director General – NIESBUD, said, “We are happy to partner with Snapdeal.com. The brand is already pioneering in the field of empowering small and medium sized businesses, and fits in well with our cause. With this tie-up we aim to reach out to a new set of audiences.”
The scope of this collaboration not only encompasses entrepreneurship development using E-commerce, but also includes training the existing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to learn and grow their business using E-commerce. In this endeavor for capacity building, approximately 500 enterprises will be up skilled every month.

Snapdeal will also promote various NIESBUD training programmes to its seller’s base and offer special packages for NIESBUD trained MSMEs to become potential sellers on the website. Additionally, the e-commerce platform will promote Virtual Clusters – a unique initiative by the Ministry of MSME to make available all the important information regarding various schemes and benefits for MSME under a single umbrella.
