Rural women workshop under CFTRI scheme

In a move to empower rural women, the city-based Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) organized ‘Dakshin Bharat Mahila Krishi Jagriti Karyashala’ in its premises.

Indira Oinam, social entrepreneur from Manipur and a founder secretary of Women Income Generation Centre, will inaugurate the event and release a book. Women’s wing president Lakshmi Devi and farmer leader Kurbur Shantha Kumar will be the chief guests. CFTRI director Ram Rajsekaran will deliver the presidential address. On the occasion, a documentary on women empowerment will be screened. Technologies on farm and entrepreneurship skills will also be showcased at the workshop to be held under CFTRI’s scheme for empowering women farmers. 

A demonstration on marketing and micro-financing of agri products will follow. Ganesh Karnik, chief whip of opposition in the legislature, will be the chief guest. K Shamala, chief manager of State Bank of Mysore (Mysore zone), spoke on industrial services for entrepreneurship, while Chayaa Nanjappa, managing partner of Nectar Fresh, will speak on avenues for women entrepreneurs.
