Rural Housing Scheme To Be Digitally Tracked

Rural Development Ministry is planning to digitally monitor the progress of all its assets falling under several social welfare schemes, including Houses for All by 2022. The one-liner “Click a picture, send to the Ministry” is the new slogan which will let the Government and the consumer know about the ongoing progress.

To make this possible, the ministry is mulling the idea of involving an IT company that will geotag each unit house built under the Rural Housing Scheme and upload it on its website. The move will help the Government to monitor implementation ensuring that the absence of duplication.

The move can be seen in sync with the Government’s attempt to emphasise the use of digital media to ensure transparency in the system and to track the progress of the scheme which aims housing for all by 2022.

The ministry has also proposed to set up technology facilitation centres which will help rural households use locally available material for construction of houses under the scheme.
