To build awareness and interest in rural marketing subject among students and academia, Rural Marketing Association of India (RMAI) and Ayurvet have announced annual awards for summer project specifically for management students, held on September 26, 2014, in New Delhi.

Compared with 101 entries last year, 167 entries were received this year from 48 B-schools such as IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kashipur, Lucknow, Ranchi, Shillong, Trichy, Udaipur; IRMA, IRM, Jaipur; NMIMS, SIBM, SIIB etc. The top 10 entries were invited at the Indian International Centre where all these participants presented their reports.

The competition was judged by an eminent jury comprising of R Seshadri, Former Managing Director – Anugrah Madison Adveritsing; Prof Chander Sabharwal, Professor at Institute of Management Technology(IMT) and Managing Director of Corp Health Products; Puneet Vidyarthi, General Manager and Head Rural at JCB India; Seshu Kumar, Business Head (Rural Retail) at ITC; Punit Chadha, General Manager Rural Marketing at Maruti Suzuki India; Arvind Saini, AGM Marketing at Eicher Tractors; BiswaCharabarty, General Manager at Crompton Greaves; Deepak Oberoi, CEO and Director at R&M India and Dr. Anup Kalra, Director at Ayurvet.

The title sponsor of the event was Ayurvet, powered by Indian Oil. The Associate Sponsors were Crompton Greaves, Maruti Suzuki India, Insight Outreach and Vision Force. EventFaqs and i9 Media were the media partners for the event.  
IIM Trichy bagged the first prize and the 2nd& 3rd prize had 3 winners each from Manage, IRMA and a joint project done by IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Trichy and Vamnicom, IIM Ahmedabad and Fore School of Management respectively who bagged the top three prizes at the 8th edition of RMAI Flame Student Awards 2014, organised by the Rural Marketing Association of India (RMAI) in New Delhi on September 26, 2014 at India International Centre. 

Speaking at the event, President, Sanjay Kaul said that “We are pleased with the overwhelming response to the initiative this year. Sheer increase in the number of entries shows the growing interest of future managers in the field of Rural Marketing and Communication. RMAI will also bring out a compilation of 30 best cases in the form of a book.”

An experienced panel of successful professionals like S N Burman Vice President, Maruti Suzuki; Suban Walia, General Manager, Pepsico; Puneet Vidyarthy, General Manager, JCB India; Sandeep Sharma, Dy. General Manager (Retail Sales) at Indian Oil and Dhruv Kashyap, Marketing & Sales Professional, moderated by Karishma Hundalani, Head & Brand Content – EventFaqs shared their slice of professional journey with the young students during an interactive session “Preferred Future and Realities”.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mohan J Saxena, Managing Director, Ayurvet.
