Union Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh has expressed his happiness over passing of Central University Amendment Bill 2014 in the Lok Sabha which provides for establishment of Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari (Bihar).
Congratulating the people of Bihar, Singh said that the present Government during first session of Parliament took a Cabinet decision to establish, Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari (Bihar) and introduced on the very second day of the current session of Parliament Central University Amendment Bill 2014. He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Union Education Minister for the decision and thanked fellow MPs for passing the Bill in Loksabha unanimously.
Singh said people of Bihar through their representatives in Parliament, Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council supported the establishment of Central University in Motihari (Bihar) after the name of Mahatama Gandhi, with one voice. He said Motihari has historical importance because Champaran movement by Mahatama Gandhi during freedom struggle was launched from this area only.
He said that the present Amendment Bill was necessitated because the previous central government was not so keen to establish Central University named after Mahatama Gandhi in Motihari.
