Punjab gave a big push to diversification of agriculture by approving comprehensive plans for the expansion of fish farming sector, thereby, attracting more and more people to adopt this innovative sphere.
Stating this, fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy development minister, Gulzar Singh Ranike said that the fish farming venture could rein in huge profits if it was run on professional lines in all the stages from initial stage to proper marketing. The minister further said that for the purpose, a special course was all set to begin from July 6th in all the 12 centers of the fisheries department.
He further said that the fish farmers successfully completing the course would be provided financial assistance and subsidy by the department.
He exhorted more and more people to adopt fish farming in order to wriggle out of the traditional crop cycle.
