Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, (POWERGRID) has been conferred “CBIP Award 2016” for “Best Performing Power Transmission Utility” and IS Jha, Chairman & Managing Director(CMD), POWERGRID has been bestowed “CBIP Award 2016” for his outstanding contributions in Power Transmission Sector.
POWERGRID has been awarded for its outstanding contribution to the Nation consistently by setting highest benchmarks in Power Transmission and ushering advance and innovative technologies to meet future challenges in Transmission sector in the country.
These awards were presented by Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Uma Bharti at a function held recently in New Delhi.
Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), is a Premier Institution, rendering dedicated services to professional organisations, engineers and individuals for more than 87 years, resulting in accelerated development in Water Resources, Energy and Allied Fields, including renewable energy, in the country and abroad.
Jha had taken over additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director of the company with effect from October 1, 2015. He is an electrical engineer from NIT, Jamshedpur. He has been the Director (Projects) in the company since September 2009. He is also on Board of State Transmission utilities of Haryana & Madhya Pradesh, Governing Board Member of CPRI and Member of Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Forest Management.
He is also the member of several prestigious professional bodies including Institute of Engineers (India), Power Engineering Society of IEEE in USA and CIGRE, France.
Power Grid Corporation of India is expecting a better FY16 than FY15 on back of growth momentum in revenues, Jha told a TV channel recently. He said that he expects revenue growth with a strong order book. The company commissioned orders worth Rs 9,500 crore in the first half of this year. Power Grid expects Rs 25,000 crore worth projects to be commissioned in FY16. Jha said that the company has plans to use Rs 1 lakh crore as capital expenditure (capex) for next four years.
