
Don’t afraid of cash at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, with 20 Customer Service Points (CSPs), four ATMs and one mobile ATM, India’s largest commercial bank, State Bank of India (SBI) is here to serve you.
In order to provide banking services to the pilgrims and visitors at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, the CSPs start their services at 8 AM in the morning and continue till 8 PM in the evening. Highlighting about the services, Viplav Srivastava, Chief Manager, Rural Business – Financial Inclusion, State Bank of India said, “Pilgrims coming to the mela who do not carry cash and do not have ATM cards, are withdrawing cash from their Aadhaar enabled SBI bank accounts by only producing their Aadhaar Cards.”
“Besides, withdrawing the money, the cash deposit and inter-banking fund transfer services are also available at the Customer Service Points,” Srivastava added. Commencing operations with the start of Kumbh, the services will continue till March 4, 2019 when the Mela will end with Mahashivratri Shahi Snan.
Extending its services to the visitors travelling from abroad, the bank is operating a currency exchange office too for providing them exchange services.
The CSPs are functioning under the administrative control of Civil Lines Administrative office in Allahabad. Along with the staffs of CSPs, the bank has deployed around half a dozen of its officials to serve the pilgrims and visitors.
One the first day of the Kumbh Mela, the bank registered around 500 to 600 customers at its CSPs. In order to make the pilgrims aware of its services, it has installed a number of hoardings at the mela area.
