The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has formulated about 1,000 training programmes based on skill gap analysis. The training courses are spread over 31 sectors including automobile, capital goods, electronics and IT hardware, handloom and handicrafts, jems and jewellery, healthcare and building construction, said the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
He further said, there are over 20 ministries/departments engaged in skill development activities through various schemes and programmes to cater to the demand of industry and service sectors across the country. As per information available with NSDC, 76.37 lakh persons were trained under these schemes during 2013-14. The NSDC trained 115,594 persons during 2013-14 in Andhra Pradesh only.
