Northern Mindanao has lost almost P800 million worth of crops to the drought brought by the El Nino.

Corn was the most affected drop, with losses pegged at almost P615 million, followed by rice at P151.9 million, and cassava.

The DA regional office has provided water pumps to local government units while irrigation canals have been cleaned and measures taken to prevent waste.

“This assistance is on our top of the certified rice seeds, open pollinated varieties of corn, vegetable seeds and fruits trees seedlings that are ready for distribution comes rainy session for the affected farmers to plant,” the agency said in a statement.
