Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said that the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme meant for the welfare of the farmers is one of the largest assistance scheme during the reign of Modi Government.
“This scheme will impart economic security on farmers and it will compensate crops damaged due to natural calamities. Prime Minister has taken a serious view on the subject of Crop Insurance Scheme, he said while addressing farmers at Kisan Mela in Bhopal.
According to him, the Prime Minister himself pondered over on the pros and corns of the schemes for pretty enough time and instructed that farmers must be extended all sort of assistance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not care for any undue pressure on the exchequer in this respect and removed all discrepancies with regard to the scheme, Singh added.
“Our Government has brought to fore quite a new dimension for the welfare of the farmers in the form of Crop Insurance Scheme, the Agriculture Minister said.
Prime Minister Modi, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Steel and Mining Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Social Justice And Empowerment Thanwar Chand Gehlot, Agriculture Minister of Madhya Pradesh Gauri Shanker Bisen and other ministers attended the Mela.
Singh said that there are some leaders in the country who make much hue and cry in the name of farmers but they did nothing for the past 10 years and they just plundered the nation. “They are the people responsible for the critical condition of the farmers in the country. They did nothing for the calamities hit farmers,” he added.
Singh said that earlier insurance scheme was not very conducive for the farmers and they were forced to pay a higher premium. “The ensured amount was also meager and our government has removed all anomalies,” he added.
The government is paving way to an unabated growth of agriculture. Round the clock Farmer TV Channel is extending better assistance to augment the knowledge of farmers related to the science of agriculture. Milk product scheme, promotion and preservation to the cows of domestic breed in the form of National Gokul Mission along with Blue Revolution in the form of fisheries to enhance income of fishers are the prominent initiatives taken by the Modi Government which is reflected as 5-6 percent increase in sectors like dairy and fisheries.
