In order to promote food processing industries to next level it has to increase level of processing and exploit the potential of domestic and international market. Further there is a need to create strong Indian food brands which will drive the demand across various product categories. With this backdrop the 10th edition of FICCI FOODWORLD INDIA was organised today in New Delhi.
Addressing the conference, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries stressed on the need of creating ‘Brand India’ in food sector in line with Govt’s vision of ‘Make in India’. Indian food sector was perceived to be marred by many roadblocks couple of years back. Now the mood has turned around for good. We are now the fastest growing economy. India is among the top FDI investment destinations globally. World has lot of enthusiasm for Indian food processing, retail, machine manufacturing and several allied sector. This is our opportunity to become a global sourcing food-hub.
Badal also announced and invited ideas for World Food Fair– a major event which shall be organised to showcase India’s strengths scheduled in November next year.
