The MSME-Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, Government of India in association with Northern Railway, Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), IRCTC, Laghu Udyog Bharti, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), New Delhi, is organising a two-day event on National Vendor Development Programme (NVDP) cum industrial exhibition, on 19-20 February in New Delhi.
The objective of the event is to create awareness about Public Procurement Policy, 2012 and its effective implementation which is going to be mandatory from April 1 this year. According to this policy, all Central Ministries, Government departments and CPSUs have to procure minimum 20 percent of their annual requirement of store items from Micro, Small Enterprises (MSEs) and 20 percent of total requirement from MSEs owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs, says an MSME-DI release.
The policy has been formulated to provide marketing support to MSEs as per section 11 of the MSME-Development Act, 2006, realising their contribution in Indian economy in terms of industrial production, gross domestic production, export and providing employment opportunities to the youth of this country.
During the event, an industrial exhibition is being organised wherein the MSEs (Vendors) from different parts of the country will be displaying their products and services to show their capabilities in fulfilling the requirement of store items of Northern Railway, Rail Coach Factory (Kapurthala), IRCTC and NSIC.
The Ministry of MSME has launched National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP) including technological and quality up-gradation, financial and marketing support schemes through cluster approach to the SME’s enabling them to compete with multinational and large units to achieve their proper market share in procurement under Government Purchase Programme.
