MediBuddy acquires Clinix, to make healthcare services accessible in rural areas

Digital healthcare platform, MediBuddy, has acquired Clinix, an online doctor consultation platform focusing on servicing healthcare to rural populations. Clinix serves the healthcare needs of the rural population with a broad network spanning 20 tier 3 and tier 4 cities. The acquisition will enable them to scale up their operations, extend services to remote rural areas and put high-quality healthcare within the reach of a large number of rural people.

In order to access quality healthcare services, the rural population frequently faces a number of challenges related to sound technological infrastructure, doctor-to-patient ratios, technical expertise, internet penetration, and online payment systems. In remote rural locations, language is a significant obstacle as well. In order to empower locals, Clinix has developed up a system that teaches them how to schedule online doctor consultations. Additionally, they have installed kiosks in a number of locations that effectively serve as e-clinics where people can consult a doctor online for their basic healthcare needs with the assistance of the facilitator.

Highlighting the acquisition, Satish Kannan, co-founder and CEO at MediBuddy said, “We regard Clinix’s acquisition as a major step in achieving our goal of making high-quality healthcare services available to every Indian. With the use of our network and infra-tech assistance, Clinix hopes to further increase its presence in the rural markets. By doing so, we will be able to better serve a big segment of the population that has trouble accessing high-quality healthcare.”

Speaking on the acquisition, Aravind Dhulipala, co-founder and CEO of Clinix said, “The doctor-patient ratio in India is already highly unbalanced, and it is significantly worse in rural India. We will be able to reach a larger population and close the urban-rural healthcare gap thanks to MediBuddy’s cutting-edge technologies and vast network.”
