Swaraj Tractors, a division of Mahindra Group, one of the leading brands in the Indian tractor industry, rolled out its 20th lakh tractor from the company’s plant in Mohali, Punjab on Tuesday. “This milestone is a testament to the customers’ trust and confidence in the brand Swaraj,” the tractor brand said.
Harish Chavan, CEO, Swaraj Division, Mahindra & Mahindra rolled out the 20th lakh tractor in a special ceremony attended by employees. Speaking on the milestone, he said, “This achievement has further cemented brand Swaraj’s reputation of being reliable and one of the fastest growing brands in the domestic tractor market over the past few years. We are thankful to all our customers and stakeholders for their wholehearted support towards the growth of this brand.”
The first milestone of 10 lakh tractors produced since its beginning in 1974, was reached in 2013. The tractor maker has already produced 20 lakh tractors in a nine-year period, which is evidence of the rapid rise of the Swaraj brand. The fact that this feat occurred at a time when the industry was facing unexpected difficulties as a result of the epidemic in a previous couple of years, according to a statement from Swaraj Tractors, makes it all the more amazing.
Hemant Sikka, President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “For us, the trip to today’s 20 lakh production milestone has been both tough and thrilling. We are pleased that Swaraj has been able to significantly improve the lives of Indian farmers throughout the years. We look forward to expanding our agri-based solutions and enabling mechanisation in the future. This achievement is another stepping stone towards realising our aim of “Transform farming and enriching lives.”
Swaraj produces tractors in the range of 15 to 65 horsepower, which also offers comprehensive mechanisation solutions. The recent introduction of CODE by Swaraj, multipurpose farm machinery, by the tractor manufacturer helped it establish itself as a pioneer in horticulture mechanisation. Currently, Punjab is home to Swaraj’s two fully operational tractor manufacturing units, as well as its foundry and R&D facilities. A third Swaraj manufacturing facility is also planned for the region.
