Registering a 3.97 per cent rise, domestic tractor sales of leading tractor manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra in January 2016 has rose to 14,402 units against 13,852 units of January 2015.
On the other hand, the company exported 663 units in as against 1,061 in the same month last year, a decline of 37.51 per cent.
The combined domestic and exports sales stood at 15,065 units against 14,913 units, 1 per cent higher than last year January.
Meanwhile, another engineering and farm equipment company, Escorts reported 4.15 per cent decline in its domestic tractor sales in January 2016 at 3,089 units compared with 3,223 in January last year, the company said in a statement.
The total tractor sales of the company in January 2016 also declined 6.79 per cent at 3,140 units. It had sold 3,369 units in the same month last year.
The exports were also down from 146 tractors to 51 tractors in January 2016.
