Kharif crop sown in 92.85 lakh hectare so far

Sowing of rice and pulses are declining while cotton is showing a rise in acreage in Kharif season this year

Kharif crop sown in 92.85 lakh hectare so far

In the ongoing Kharif season, the total sown area as on June 16, 2017, as per reports received from the States, stands at 92.85 lakh hectare as compared to 87.59 lakh hectare at this time last year.

It is reported that rice has been sown or transplanted in 9.22 lakh hectare, pulses in 2.22 lakh hectare, sugarcane in 47.52 lakh hectare and cotton in 16.67 lakh hectare.
