IHGF to exhibit masterpieces from rural India

Around 2,750 exhibitors including marts, drawn from all over India will be exhibiting home, lifestyles and fashion products along with masterpieces from rural artisans and crafts at the India Handicrafts and Gift Fair (IHGF) Delhi Fair. The Fair will be inaugurated by Union Textile Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar on October 14.

Spread over 14 halls covering approximately 1,90,000 sq.m, the fair would attract more than 5,000 buyers who would source their requirements. Buyers from countries like USA, UK, Japan, France, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, China, Australia, Philippines, Hong Kong and many more countries have already confirmed their visit to the fair. Buyers from Latin American region particularly Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Panama, Chile, Central Asia, Africa and middle east will also be sourcing their requirements at this fair, said Dinesh Kumar, Chairman, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).

“Since ages, Indian artisans have been creating one masterpiece after another. This will clearly be manifested at the IHGF Delhi Fair at India- Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida”, Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH.told RM.

“The crafts of India are diverse, rich in history and religion. The craft of each state reflects the influence of different empires. Throughout centuries, crafts have been embedded as a culture and tradition within rural communities. With their products, exhibitors from different states would showcase their culture and tradition to global participants as well, he added..

According to the organisers, apart from large number of overseas buyers, a sizeable number of domestic volume retail buyers such as Reliance Retail, Fab Furnish, West Side, Shoppers Stop, Land Mark Group and renowned e-commerce companies such as eBay, Flipkart, Bed Bath & More, Pepper Fry, Urban Ladder and many more have also confirmed their visit to the fair for bulk sourcing.

”EPCH over the years has successfully positioned India as a sourcing destination for the best-in-hand-crafted products handicrafts and lifestyle products,” Kumar said.

IHGF was started in the year 1994; it has reached its 40th edition with Autumn 2015. The EPCH is a nodal agency for promotion and development of handicrafts. It has been organising Asia’s largest handicraft show-IHGF twice every year Spring and Autumn Editions. The IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn 2015 is expected to generate huge amount of inquiries and orders.
