To explore the areas of collaboration with Vietnam, Om Parkash Dhankar, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister of Haryana met with Vietnam delegation led by Vice Minister of Vietnam for Agriculture and Rural Development, Vu Van Tam at New Delhi today.
During the meeting, Dhankar apprised the delegation that Haryana is an agro based state and that expertise of both Haryana and Vietnam could be exploited for the benefit of both the regions. A delegation of different departments of Haryana including agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and rural development gave brief presentations regarding their concerned fields of excellence. The fisheries department of the State proposed to set up an Indo-Vietnam Centre-of-Excellence for Shrimp Culture in saline water in Haryana which is one of the expertises of Vietnam.
Dhankar said that this was the initial phase of the relationship with Vietnam which would be followed by exchange of projects between Haryana and Vietnam and would prove beneficial for the regions. He said that we have invited the Vietnam delegation to visit Haryana and in turn they too have invited us to visit their country so as to explore more projects through which both the regions could collaborate and hence prosper.
Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Ton Sinh Thanh and Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Viet Chau were part of Vietnam delegation.
