Drone startup Garuda Aerospace has become “the first company to receive agricultural drone support for its agricultural drones.” The grant is part of the Indian government’s effort to promote the use of drones in agriculture. The Garuda Kisan Drones were provided to eight farmers under the Agricultural Drone Subsidy at an event in Pune, the drone company said. The distributors of drones from Maharashtra were present at the event.
“The DGCA-approved Garuda Kisan Drone has the potential to change the way agriculture manages and monitors the health of crops by testing and identifying areas that need water or fertilizer. They can also be used to spray pesticides and fertilizers on crops, reducing labour intensity and increasing productivity. With this grant, Garuda Aerospace will expand its operations and make Garuda Kisan drones available to Indian farmers. This will not only make the farmer’s job easier and more efficient but will also benefit the farmer by helping to promote agriculture and reduce food waste,” Garuda Aerospace said.
The aim is to promote the use of agricultural drones in India for the benefit of small farmers. Agnishwar Jayaprakash, founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, said about the initiative, “We are proud to be the first company to receive funding for agricultural drones. Our drones have proven to be a revolutionary game-changer in agriculture and this grant is helping more farmers across India. Agricultural drones are still in their infancy in India and our vision is to revolutionize and facilitate the use of drone technology in agriculture.”
“We are proud of Garuda Aerospace as the first drone company to benefit from the Agricultural Drone Subsidy. Eight farmers have chosen to purchase DGCA-approved, type-certified Garuda Kisan Drones. Your innovative technologies and solutions have helped and benefited many farmers in Maharashtra and across the country. Your commitment to increase yields, reduce crop damage and support sustainable agriculture has benefited all farmers,” said Vishnu Salve, Director, Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra.
“Agricultural Drone Subsidy is an important step for Garuda Aerospace and the entire drone industry. Supported by the government, Garuda Aerospace has the potential to have a major impact on agriculture and help India become a leader in drone technology. Garuda Aerospace is proud to continue its mission of driving innovation in agriculture and bringing new technologies to farmers,” the drone startup said.
