To discuss on the sustainable food system, challenges in front of global agriculture, food security and other related issues, agriculture ministers of G20 countries will meet at Istanbul on May 8, 2015.
FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva will also meet Turkish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock M Mehdi Eker and other ministers and senior officials.
The conclusion of the session will produce a final Ministerial Communiqué which will be adopted as a basis for G20 action on food security, agriculture and related issues during Turkey’s presidency of the bloc. The communiqué will focus on four main themes; sustainable food systems, investment in agriculture, agricultural productivity growth through research and development and supporting smallholders, and managing food losses and waste, an FAO release said.
