First phase of Buddhist Circuit completes Tourism Minister

The first phase of the ‘Buddhist Circuit’ project, co-funded by, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), departments of Tourism, governments of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, has now been completed. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Dr. Mahesh Sharma in the Lok Sabha.

The Union Ministry of Tourism, the departments of Tourism of the governments of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and IFC had entered into an agreement in October 2013 to cooperate in upgrading the quality of services and goods provided to tourists along the ‘Buddhist Circuit’ in India.

The total project cost for the first phase was Rs 450 lakh in which 50 percent was funded by Union Ministry of Tourism, 40 was funded by IFC while 5 percent each were funded by the governments of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
