The newly elected NDA Government is to launch a separate television channel, Kisan TV, for farmers. The objective of the channel would be to disseminate real time information to farmers across the country on farming techniques, water conservation, organic farming and other agriculture related information.
“Kisan TV, dedicated to the interests of the agriculture and allied sector will be launched in the current financial year. This will disseminate real time information to the farmers, information regarding new farming techniques, water conservation, organic farming, etc.,” announced Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely.
The finance minister has fixed a sum of Rs 100 Crore to set up the TV channel. Various programmes and channels of All India Radio have been disseminating information to farmers, but they have not achieved their objectives.
