Danish Minister visits grassroots innovations at NIF

The three Honey Bee Network (HBN) institutions, National Innovation Foundation (NIF-India), Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI), Grassroots Innovations Augmentation Network (GIAN) and Grambharti Amrapur welcomed Soren Pind, the Danish Minister for Higher Education and  Science, and ambassador Peter Taksoe-Jensen and other dignitaries from the Danish government.

Pind visited the exhibition and took keen interest in the variety of technologies that was showcased; from seed varieties to technology innovations by grassroots communities, small kids, from herbal practices to herbal products developed at the Sadbhav-SRISTI-Sanshodan natural products laboratory by pooling individual and traditional knowledge practices.

He took note of the excellent state-of-the-art facilities, including the most recent and updated simulation and fabrication machines at NIF’s Fablab Grambharti. Fablab is keen on collaborating with Collindi, the Danish design giant for cocreating sustainable solutions to unmet social needs.

The visit explored the possible collaboration with HBN institutions and other institutions in India. The idea is to learn from the frugal culture of the country and see India emerging as a partner of choice in the area of science, technology, innovation and education. The minister quipped that the vast knowledge at the grassroots has somehow remained under explored by the ministry till now and this link was necessary for making the innovation canvas more inclusive not only in Denmark or India but all over the world.

Prof Anil Gupta remarked that this visit will certainly lead to more concrete collaboration and exchanges in the future which will enrich the whole ecosystem of both grassroots and educational innovations including new benchmarks and pedagogies to make society more innovative and also collaborative.
