
ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (ICAR-CIPHET) organised its silver jubilee national seminar on ‘Present Status and Future Strategies for Processing and Value Addition of Agricultural Commodities’ at Ludhiana in Punjab. The seminar was sponsored by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.
Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), emphasised on the need to maintain and enhance soil and water quality to produce good quality crops suitable for processing. While elaborating the success of food production in India, he added, food saved is food processed.
Dr K Algusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), chaired the inaugural session.
On this occasion, various self-help-groups, entrepreneurs and NGOs also participated and displayed their value added products based on institute technologies. Participants, researchers and entrepreneurs from different parts of the country participated in this two-day national seminar.
