Centre promotes production of organic manure from bio-waste

The Centre is promoting the production of organic manure from bio-waste under the Capital Investment Subsidy Scheme (CISS) of National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA)  programme. Under this scheme, 100 percent financial assistance is provided upto a maximum limit of Rs 190 lakh to State governments and government agencies and 33 percent assistance is provided upto a maximum limit of Rs.63.00 lakh per unit to individuals, private agencies through National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) as capital investment for setting up of mechanised fruit, vegetable market waste; agro waste compost production unit of 3000 TPA production capacity.

The government is encouraging the use of organic and bio-fertiliser through various schemes and programmes such as NMSA, Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), Rashgtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), National Mission on Oilseeds & Oil Palm (NMOOP), National Biogas and Manure Management Programme (NBMMP), Network Project on Organic Farming of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and National Programme on Organic Production (NPOP) of Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is implementing a scheme namely, National Biogas and Manure Management Programme (NBMMP) using cow dung, kitchen waste material etc., as mix feed to produce biogas for cooking gas and organic enriched bio manure through the implementing agencies such as state nodal departments, state nodal agencies and Khadi & Village Industries Commission and Biogas Development and Training Centres (BDTCs).
