
Amira group has said that it will empower 7,500 farmer families with technical guidance, marketing linkage and access to the organic and sustainable methods of farming, including quality seeds and bio-inputs.
With the help of these farmers, the company intends to cultivate 12,000 hectares of land for multiple organic crops. The company also launched number of organic products including organic rice, lentils & beans, flour, spices, oil and ghee.
"Organic products category has seen a tremendous growth in the last couple of years and Indian consumers are becoming more conscious about their health as well as the environment," said Karan Chanana, Chairman and CEO, Amira Nature Foods.
Amira sells basmati rice, its flagship Amira brand as well as under other third party brands. In India, the company sells through various retail and wholesale chains including Wal-Mart Best Price, Metro Cash & Carry, Reliance Cash & Carry and Reliance Fresh.
