Loneliness affect rural and urban seniors equally. Some NGOs and Social Organisations have come together to address this issue by organising a unique match making event for people above 50 years of age. The event will be held in New Delhi on September 18, 2016. Large number of rural men and women are expected to attend Delhi’s first ever “ Senior Citizens’ Jeevan Saathi Sammelan.”

For aged 50+ men and women- unmarried, divorced & widowed, the unique match making event is being organised free of cost and without restriction of caste, religion or state, by “Anubandh Foundation”, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The event is supported by Senior Citizen Forum, New Delhi and Rizwan Adatia Foundation has sponsored it..

VB Sharan, President, Senior Citizen Forum said, "To especially encourage female participants from rural and remote areas, return train fare will be reimbursed. We had requested interested candidates to send their bio-data with one photograph and identity proof to the Forum’s address. We have received tremendous response from rural areas apart from cities.

Natubahi Patel of Anubandh Foundation said, “ Single senior citizens are generally highly neglected & disregarded by their near and dear ones who are too busy in their own life, prefer single family & do not have time for their elders. Life of such seniors become miserable for want of somebody’s care, love, company and attendance. So we periodically arranges get to-gather for such senior citizens all over India to help them to find out suitable life partner to pass the rest of life in peace & happiness. There is no age bar for love & companionship.”

The Foundation has been appreciated by noted bollywood actor Amir Khan in his TV program “ Satya Mev Jayate” and it has been awarded by India Book of Records.

“Two lonely seniors of different sex may find it amusing to give company to each other in their latter part of life-Why live alone in the age when need of a life partner is most needed, to look after one another” Patel asked.

He added that the NGO has organized over 40 such events in places like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Mehsana, Anjar, Surendranagar & Bharuch(Gujarat), Kota, Jaipur, Nathdwara(Rajasthan), Raipur(Chhattisgarh), Bhopal, Indore & Jabalpur(Madhya Pradesh), Pune,Nasik,Aurangabad & Mumbai (Maharashtra), Hyderabad(AP), Bangalore, (Karnataka), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Chennai(Tamil Nadu),Kolkata(West Bengal),Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Faridabad(Haryana),Haridwar(Uttara Khand), & Jammu ( J & K State).
