Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay visit to Prayagraj Kumbh Mela Sunday. At Kumbh, he will participate in the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar event, organised by Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation.

The Prime Minister will distribute the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhaar awards to safai karmacharis (sanitation workers), swachhagrahis (sanitation volunteers), police personnel and naviks (boat sailers), deployed for the Mela. There will also be the digital announcement of Swachh Seva Samman Benefits package.

PM will later address the gathering. Prime Minister will take a snaan at Triveni Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical river Saraswati. He will also interact with safai karmacharis at Kumbh Mela.

Cleanliness and Swacch Bharat initiatives were given focus in the Kumbh organised at Prayagraj this year. The Prime Minister by presenting the Swachh Kumbh Swachh Aabhar awards will honour those who have played a vital role in ensuring a Swachh Kumbh.

The Prime Minister had also visited the Sangam on December 16, 2018 when the preparations for Kumbh Mela were on full swing. He had performed Ganga Pujan, visited the Akshay Vat inside Allahabad Fort and had described Kumbh Mela as a symbol of India and Indianness. He had said that the organisation of the Kumbh was not just a matter of faith, but also a matter of prestige, and every visitor to the Kumbh should be well taken care of.
