ICAR-NRCSS organises seed distribution fair

ICAR-NRCSS organised 3-day Rashtriya Beej Vitaran Mela Evam Krishak Mahotsav-2015 in Ajmer Rajasthan

Prof. Sanwar Lal Jat, Union Minister of State for Water Resources urged for technology development to cultivate crops with minimum water requirement. He elaborated upon the crop insurance policy and made appeal to adopt organic cultivation practices. The minister was speaking on the occasion of 3-day Rashtriya Beej Vitaran Mela Evam Krishak Mahotsav-2015 at ICAR- National Research Centre on Seed Spices (NRCSS), Ajmer.

He released printed and e-books on soil health rejuvenation, seed spice diseases and its management and extension folders describing package of practices.

Dr Balraj Singh, Director, NRCSS welcomed dignitaries, delegates, farmers and students from agricultural colleges and participants from various government organisations, NGOs and private sector companies. He emphasised on post-harvest management and value addition in seed spice crops at village level and highlighted achievements of the centre made in terms of varietal development.

Various interactive sessions were organised between farmers and scientists to get applicable solutions to the problems faced by the farmers. An open quiz was also organised to promote the knowledge of farmers on seed spices. More than 30 stalls were exhibited representing State Agricultural Universities, ICAR institutes, private companies and NGOs.

About 2,500 farmers and other stakeholders participated from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi and other states in the fair.
