Monsanto India appoints Cherukuri Ravishankar as Managing Director

Ravishankar’s predecessor Shilpa Divekar Nirula will hold a senior global leadership position at the parent company, Bayer

Monsanto India has appointed Cherukuri Ravishankar as the Managing Director for its business across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He assumed responsibility from Shilpa Divekar Nirula from September 22, 2018.

Nirula will hold a senior leadership position at the parent company, Bayer. However, she will continue to remain a Non-Executive Director of the company.

Ravishankar who has earlier been a Non-Executive Director of the company has been instrumental in conceptualising and implementing strategic initiatives in commercial and modernising supply chain operations of the company. He brings with him twenty-one years of experience across multiple functions including commercial, strategy and supply chain as well as multiple industries agriculture inputs, consumer products, consumer durables and consulting.

Monsanto India is a subsidiary of global agriculture company, Bayer. With a presence of more than six decades in India, Monsanto helps the Indian farmer produce more while conserving sustainably and to be successful. The company which was recently acquired by Bayer, focuses on maize, DEKALB®, India's largest selling hybrid maize seed brand, and agricultural productivity, Roundup®, the world, as well as India's largest selling glyphosate herbicide.

Monsanto endeavours to boost crop productivity through its advanced research in maize cultivation, access to a wide library of global maize germplasm, breeding technology and techniques, new high-yielding hybrid seeds, best-in-class manufacturing facilities, extensive agronomic activities and on-farm technology development.
