In a bid to ease staying in Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, India’s leading public sector commercial bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) is promoting cashless and digital transactions among the pilgrims. For this, the bank is issuing eRUPAYA cards to the visitors. A visitor can avail the card only by producing his/her Aadhaar. A card can be recharged with minimum of Rs 100 to maximum Rs 10,000. To spread its acceptability, PNB has made tie-ups with approximately 150 retailers in the first week of Kumbh across mela who accept payments through these cards. At the same time, the bank has issued cards to over 1000 customers.
“To promote its acceptability among the visitors, we are also giving offers on certain level of transactions. If a customer makes Rs 2000 transaction, he gets Rs 50 cash back while Rs 100 cash back on Rs 6,000 transaction and Rs 250 cash back on Rs 10,000 transaction. PNB is also the official digital partner of Kumbh Mela,” Shailesh Singh, a bank official in the mela said.
“To execute the programme, the bank is operating 20 outlets combined with its employees and outsourced from an agency,” Singh added.
Furthermore, to provide full-fledged banking services to the visitors to the Kumbh, PNB is also operating two branches in different sectors in the mela. The visitors can avail services such as cash deposits, withdrawals and fund transfers like NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. Customers of other banks can make cash deposits and withdrawals by Aadhaar and biometrics also. As many as 12 mobile ATMs roaming around the mela area are smoothing cash payments to the devotees.
In order to make the visitors aware of its services, the bank has installed hoardings, posters, banners, pole brandings among many other ways. Besides, vans are also running across the public gathering points to make the people are aware of PNB’s services.
