Bank of Baroda makes inroads in Kumbh Mela

Bank of Baroda is serving pilgrims at Kumbh Mela with its two branches, four ATMs, one mobile ATM and one coin dispensing machine

In order to provide banking services to the pilgrims visiting to Prayagraj Kumbh Mela,  India’s one of leading public sector commercial banks, Bank of Baroda (BoB) is camping at the mela area with its two branches at sector – 1 and sector -2. The services in both the branches are available between 8 AM to 10 PM. Besides, the bank is also dispensing cash to the devotees with its four ATMs and two mobile ATMs.   

Hariom Mishra, Branch Head, Sector – 1 Branch, said to Rural Marketing, “The basic objectives of Bank of Baroda are to provide banking solutions to the pilgrims visiting to the Kumbh Mela from remote rural areas of the country. Over 70 percent of customers coming to the branches are from rural areas who make transactions from Rs 1000 to Rs 3000. A person who has an account in any bank, linked with Aadhaar number and biometrics can withdraw cash here while deposits are accepted only for BoB accounts.”

Besides, BoB’s Kumbh branches are serving people for opening of new accounts, making passbook entries, dispensing coins to the visitors through a coin dispensing machine, along with many other services. For overseas visitors who want to avail currency exchange services, BoB branches refer them to Western Union under an agreement with the later. With a special offer for Kumbh Mela, the bank is only providing new currency notes so that visitors can get a warm welcome.

Bank of Baroda has deployed five permanent employees and 10 business correspondents at each branch to serve the devotees who are part of the congregation of taking a holy dip at the chilling waters of Ganges and Yamuna at the confluence.   The branches are functioning under the administrative control of BoB’s Allahabad regional office.

The services were inaugurated one week in advance of commencing the Kumbh Mela by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and bank officials and will continue to the ending of the mela. In order to make the pilgrims aware of the services, BoB has installed banners and hoardings across the mela area in Sangam along with frequent announcements with loudspeakers.
