Cruise service to begin ahead of Kumbh Mela

Cruise service to begin ahead of Kumbh Mela

The preparations of Kumbh Mela 2019 are on full swing and to make sure that everything is moving smoothly, Cruise service is also starting from Varanasi to Prayagraj.

No matter how much the importance of Kumbh Mela 2019 is stated, it will always be less as far as the devotees are concerned. The countdown has started and less than 30 days are left. Every year of Kumbh Mela, the footfalls reach a huge number and 2019 will be no different. More than 12 crore devotees are expected to visit this holy festival. The preparations are going on full swing with infrastructure, housing, logo and security given the much needed makeover. To leave no stone unturned, cruise service has been announced just before the beginning of Kumbh Mela 2019.

Less than three weeks are left for Kumbh Mela 2019 and U.P. government is doing all it can. Necessary steps are taken by them to give full comfort to the devotees. And the announcement of cruise service is just another step in that direction. Apart from making all the provisions of road, rail and airways, the government has decided to provide cruise services from Varanasi to Prayagraj.

The cruise will also ease local traveling as the devotees can also visit the tourist spot near Prayagraj. Praveen Pandey, President of Indian Waterways Authority, said that all the arrangements are complete and we are ready to go. Five temporary terminals have been set up in Ganga and Yamuna river to ensure a smoother service. Five temporary jetties have been set in Chatnag, Sirsa, Sitamarhi, Vidhyachal and Chunar.

According to Mr. Pandey, two ships, CN Kasturba and SL Kamla have already reached Prayagraj. The former has the capacity of carrying around 150 people at once. Licenses will be issued to private cruise operators to operate during Kumbh Mela 2019. Additional provisions are also in process. Cargo service along the Haldiya-Prayagraj route has also begun.
